“One of the things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time. Do not hoard what seems good for a later place in the book or for another book; give it, give it all, give it now. The impulse to save something good…

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” ― Osho

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ― Sylvia Plath

“As things stand now, I am going to be a writer. I’m not sure that I’m going to be a good one or even a self-supporting one, but until the dark thumb of fate presses me to the dust and says “you are nothing,” I will be a writer.”   Hunter S. Thompson

“But surely to tell these tall tales and others like them would be to spread the myth, the wicked lie, that the past is always tense and the future, perfect.” -Zadie Smith

“I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions.” ― James A. Michener

“A story is impelled by the necessity to reveal: the aim of the story is a revelation, which means that a story can have nothing—at least not deliberately—to hide. This also means that a story resolves nothing. The resolution of a story must occur in us, with what we make of the questions with which…

CONFESSIONS OF A ROMANCE AUTHOR 3

E.B. White stated that “Writing is an act of faith, not a trick of grammar.”

It happens to all of us at one time or another. Some call it writer’s block. Some say their creative well went dry. Some just are simply burnt out and some still, just feel like faith in the creative process took a swerve to the far left of where they would like it to be for a host of reasons from rejection letters, family issues, day job struggles and more. How can you even think of writing about imaginary characters when the real life ones are giving you and your mental bandwidth a run for your money?

“The whole point about vision is that it’s very individual, it’s very personal, and it has to be confessional. It has to be something which hurts – the pulling out of it and putting it on the page hurts. Art can be about the individual writer’s response to his or her condition, and if that…
