Character Crush: Noah Clark of After Midnight

Character Crush
Because Authors Have Crushes Too!

1.  What attracts you to Noah and why is he your
character crush?
Noah Clark is
handsome in an intriguing mix of urbane and ruggedness. He carries himself with
the confidence that only comes from being a performer. And if that’s not
enough, he’s caring and sexy–a lethal combination to any woman’s heart.

 2.   Does Noah believe in love?
Absolutely. Noah’s
parents have been together for 45 years, so he not only believes in the
emotion, he knows it is strong enough to last a lifetime. He just never
imagined he would find it in a pub in Long Island City, or with a woman as
desperate to forget her past as he is to reclaim his.
3.   What actor or actress resembles Noah?
Josh Holloway. I
never base my characters physical attributes on real people. When characters
pop into my head and begin a conversation, they’re fully formed – hair color, eye
color, skin tone, everything. And so to me Noah has always looked like…Noah.
However, as a reader I understand the interest in learning who the author
believes their character most closely resembles. For me that person would be
Josh Holloway.
4.   What is the most enduring trait about Noah? Or
maddening?
The most maddening
trait about Noah is his one track mind. When he wants something, he goes out
and gets it, no matter what it takes. The first time he laid eyes on his
heroine, Isabeau, he wanted her. He wanted to show her what she was missing, by
ignoring her music the way she was. He wanted to share with her what it took
him years to figure out: Denying who you are is nothing but a waste of time,
time you never get back. But that one track mind got him in trouble when he
became so focused on what he wanted that he didn’t see the big picture. As a
result, he nearly lost the woman who’d become everything to him.
5.   Use the first three words that pop into your mind to describe Noah
Sexy, persistent, and
patient.
6.   What past event in Noah’s life has defined them the
most?
The death of Noah’s
childhood friend and Black Phoenix’s original drummer, Danny Treyborne. Noah
and Danny grew up around the corner from each other, chasing girls, raising
hell, and sharing the dream of one day making it big. Neither of them ever
imagined just how big they would become – a multi-platinum band whose last
album was the most successful of its century. Or that sex, alcohol, and rock
and roll would lead to Danny’s death, and Noah’s defining moment.
7.   Who is your Noah’s confidant?
His best friend: Black
Phoenix bassist, Dominic Price.
AFTER
MIDNIGHT Blurb:
Thirteen
years — that’s how long Isabeau Montgomery has been living a lie. After an
automobile accident took her mother’s life, Izzy hid herself away, surviving
the only way she knew how. Now she is happy in her carefully reconstructed
life. That is until he walks through the door of her bar…
Black
Phoenix singer/front man Noah Clark came to Long Island City with a goal — one
that doesn’t include an instant, electric attraction to the dark-haired beauty
behind the bar. Coaxing her into his bed won’t be easy, but he can’t get her
pale, haunted eyes nor her skill on the piano out of his head.
Can
Noah help Isabeau overcome the past? Or will her need to protect her secret
force her back into hiding and destroy their chance at happiness?

About
Sarah:
Sarah
Grimm is a wife and mother of two—five if you count her much-loved dogs. She
resides in beautiful West Michigan, near the white sandy beaches of Lake
Michigan.
The
youngest of four, Sarah can’t remember a time when she wasn’t writing. In fact,
her siblings believe she began writing in utero to pass the time. As a child,
Sarah wrote constantly, littering the house with bulging spiral notebooks and
ignoring the ribbing of her mother and sister who routinely said romances? in a
somewhat scornful tone. Little did they know, Sarah would go on to win a 2011
Readers Favorite Award for her romantic suspense, Not Without Risk, and her
interracial contemporary romance, After Midnight would both final in the 2012
Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence, as well as win the 2012 Romance Through the
Ages Award.
Vivacious
and imaginative, Sarah spends much of her day managing the family marine repair
business while listening in on the lives of her characters. In the evening, she
writes it all down, weaving the story as she goes. She says this method works
well for her, except on the days when her hero and heroine insist on a steamy
love scene while she’s answering the telephone or doing the taxes!
When
asked what he thinks of her choice of genres, Sarah’s husband grins wickedly
and answers, “It makes for interesting evenings.” Hmmm..
